Carl Brown

Carl A. Brown, RCI, RRO
Introduction

Carl is the Senior Partner in the consulting firm AWS Roofing & Waterproofing Consultants and has specialized in helping clients with their roofing, decking, and waterproofing projects. Over the last 8 years. Mr. Brown has consulted with homeowner associations, commercial, industrial, public works, and private clients all over the Southern California area. He is the managing partner of AWS and supervises the day-to-day operations, consultants and roof observers. Mr. Brown has been a licensed California contractor since 1973.

Experience

Mr. Brown holds contractor licenses in multiple classes including roofing, waterproofing, and concrete restoration. He holds the coveted Registered Roof Observer certification from the Roof Consultants Institute. Carl has been on the teaching faculty of the RCI Roof Observer class, and also the teaching faculty of CACM for Roof Maintenance and The Bidding Game.
Mr. Brown has written numerous articles for the CID industry and has been published locally and nationally in Common Ground and Condo management magazines. He is a long-term professional member of the Roof Consultants Institute and past president of the SoCal Chapter.
Carl Brown also is listed with the Contractors State License Board as an Industry Expert.

Mr. Brown has performed Expert Witness services for over a dozen cases, working for both plaintiff and defendant sides. Cases include commercial and homeowner association matters, and arbitrations and Superior Court cases. He has testified or in depositions about a dozen times.

Education

Carl Brown attended Penn State University and Temple University, and later took construction-specific classes at Goldenwest College and Orange Coast College.

Affiliations

Mr. Brown has been active with multiple chapters of the Community Associations Institute since 1991 and with CACM since its inception. Carl is presently on the Board of Directors at CAI-OCRC Chapter. Carl takes pride in volunteer work with these groups dedicated to the education of CID managers and Board members. He has been a guest speaker at CAI-OCRC.
